Privacy Policy

The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is committed to protecting the privacy of its visitors. Information gathered through the HLAA Website is used to monitor our site's effectiveness and to respond to your questions and requests.

Opinions expressed in articles appearing on this website are those of the author. Mention of goods or services in advertisements or articles does not imply Hearing Loss Association of America endorsement, nor should exclusion suggest disapproval.

Financial Information You Choose to Provide
If you choose to make an online donation or payment, you will have to provide your credit card billing information. As this information is collected and transferred over the Internet to our secure server, it is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, the industry standard security technology that is designed to protect sensitive information. Our billing pages display the GeoTrust® Secure Site Seal to assure you that our Web site is authentic and that all transactions are secured by SSL encryption. Clicking on the GeoTrust® logo will display as the domain instead of because this is our security certificate name. If you are making a donation or payment, the credit card information that you provide at the time of the donation or payment is used only to process your donation or payment and will not be used for any other purposes.

What information do we collect and how do we use it?
Through this Website, we collect information about the domain name (.com, .net, .edu, .gov) of a visitor's server (i.e., the name of the Internet service provider's computer that funnels traffic to the Internet) but use it only for measurement purposes. These measurements provide website statistics, such as the number of visitors, “hits” and top pages transmitted. Knowing how the site is used helps us develop plans for improvement of the site. The data we collect are totals of those visiting from a domain and not information on individual visitors. These statistics do not reveal personal information.

We do not automatically collect email addresses or other personal information unless you provide it on a form, survey, or email message. The information we collect is used in the following ways:

The Hearing Loss Association of America does not sell, trade, or rent personal information about its Website visitors, members, or donors.

Email addresses provided to us through registration on our site, our message boards, our e-mail newsletter mailing list, our online store, or when making a donation are used to distribute advocacy alerts, electronic newsletters, announcements, or other communications that HLAA distributes on behalf of our organization or state and chapter affiliates.

When you order products or services from the HLAA store, join, or make a donation online, we need to know your name, email address, mailing address, credit card number, and expiration date. This allows us to process, fulfill, and acknowledge your order, membership, or donation. Secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us.

You may receive periodic mailings from the Hearing Loss Association of America via the U.S. mail. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please provide your full name, mailing address, and a sentence requesting deletion of your postal information from our files, and email it or write to us at HLAA, 7910 Woodmont Ave, Suite 1200, Bethesda MD 20814

By using the Hearing Loss Association of America Website, you consent to the collection and use of the information described above. Any changes to this policy will be posted.
